What it is
Vault Studio Pro is one web app with six tools:
- Docs, for .docx documents, with comments, suggestions, tables and equations;
- Sheets, for .xlsx, .xls and .csv spreadsheets, with formulas, charts and pivot tables;
- Slides, for .pptx presentations, with speaker notes and a presenter mode;
- a PDF editor with annotations, signatures, form filling, redaction and English text recognition (OCR);
- Image Studio, for cropping, adjusting, marking up and blacking out images;
- the File Safe, which locks any file into a password-protected .vault file with AES-256-GCM encryption.
There is nothing to install and no account to create: open the app and drop in a file. Every editor is free. Pro adds a few heavier features, and every Pro feature is unlocked for the first 7 days so you can try them first (see pricing).
Why it exists
Most online editors work by uploading your file to a server, converting it there and sending the result back. That's convenient, but it means a contract, a payslip, a medical letter or a spreadsheet of customer data ends up on a computer you don't control, under a privacy policy you probably haven't read.
Browsers are now capable enough to do this work themselves. Vault Studio Pro is built on that idea: documents shouldn't have to leave your device to be edited. Opening, editing, converting, redacting and encrypting all happen in the browser tab you are using.
Our principles
- It runs in your browser. Your files are processed on your device. The security page explains exactly what reaches our server (two small license requests, and never your documents) and what doesn't.
- No ads, and no selling data. We make money one way: when you pay us for Pro. There are no advertising, analytics or tracking scripts on this site or in the app.
- You keep what you paid for. With Pro Annual or Founders, every Pro feature released during a year you paid for stays unlocked on your key, even if you stop renewing. The changelog records the date each Pro feature was released.
- We publish our limits. Each tool page has a "Limits worth knowing" section, and the security page ends with what we can't promise. If something doesn't work well yet, we would rather you read it here than find out halfway through a job.
- Claims you can check. The app includes a Privacy Audit panel that shows the browser's own record of the page's network requests, so you don't have to take our word for it.
How it's built
- Open file formats. Vault Studio Pro reads and writes the standard .docx, .xlsx, .pptx and PDF formats, so your work isn't locked into our app. Any compatible program can open what you save.
- Self-hosted components. Fonts, the pdf.js PDF engine and its font data, and the OCR engine with its English language data are served from our own domain, not from public CDNs or Google Fonts.
- A strict Content-Security-Policy. Every page tells your browser to refuse network connections to any site other than vaultstudiopro.com, which blocks a bug, a compromised library or a booby-trapped document from sending your data elsewhere.
- Offline license keys. Pro keys are checked on your device with a digital signature (ECDSA P-256), so there is no account and no sign-in.
- Usable offline. Choose "Make available offline" in the app and it keeps working without an internet connection.
Who's behind it
Vault Studio Pro is an independent product built and run from the United States. It isn't affiliated with Microsoft, Adobe or any other software company, and it's funded only by the people who buy Pro.
